LUXURY DOESN'T HAVE TO BE SERIOUS

LUXURY DOESN'T HAVE TO BE SERIOUS

Before it was diamonds, it was rocking horses for me.

I don't even know how old I was in this photo. All I know is that I already knew exactly what I wanted. I was determined. Bossy. And very opinionated about what I would and would not wear. And even then, I loved jewelry.

My first real memory of it isn't glamorous, it's sitting on the floor playing in my grandmother's jewelry box. The sounds of chains. The weight of gold. The feeling that each piece meant something. She gave me my first piece of fine jewelry when I was ten. I still have it. I still wear it. I still love it just as much as the day I got it.

That's the special thing about jewelry. It holds memory. It outlives trends. It becomes a part of you.

Luxury never felt like a status symbol to me. It felt like permanence. I learned very early that there's a difference between something that looks nice... and something that lasts. Semi-fine pieces tarnish. They break. They fade. But real gold? Diamonds? They stay. They become forever pieces. They carry stories. They get passed down. They collect meaning over time. That's what makes something luxury to me, not the price tag. The staying power.

Somewhere a long the way, luxury because stiff. Quiet. Reserved. Slightly intimidating. Like, diamonds behind glass. Like, you need a black-tie event to justify wearing them. But, who decided that?

You can wear a sweatshirt, throw on a tennis necklace, and suddenly the entire look changes. You can wear the exact same tennis necklace to a formal event and look glamorous. That's the power of jewelry. It doesn't need an occasion. It creates one.

I love mixing diamonds with sweatshirts because it feels honest. You don't have to dress up to deserve something beautiful. You can look undone, casual, even a little chaotic, and still wear something refined. To me, that's modern luxury. It's not about stiffness. It's not about rules. It's not about proving anything.

It's about quality, permanence, and the emotion you attach to a piece.

The most special thing about jewelry is that no one else knows what it means to you. The necklace your grandmother gave you. The ring you bought yourself after a hard year. The bracelet you wear every single day. That memory is private, personal and untouchable.

Luxury doesn't have to whisper. It doesn't have to behave. It can be playful. It can be bold. It can say something slightly inappropriate. Humor doesn't weaken luxury. It makes it human. And honestly? There's no room for stuffiness in life.

Ps. I still love rocking horses. I just upgraded the materials.
