IT STARTS WITH A NEEDLE

IT STARTS WITH A NEEDLE

Before a sweatshirt ever touches a machine, it starts the old-fashioned way. With a needle.

Once we decide on a saying, each phrase is hand embroidered first. Every single one.

We stitch individual mock-ups to understand how the letters sit. How they curve. How they breathe on fabric. How much tension they hold. Where the thread naturally wants to move. Because embroidery it's just text. It's texture. And texture changes everything.

Once the hand mock-ups are done, they go to a digitizer. And here's something I didn't know when we first started: not all digitizers are equal. Anyone can convert artwork into a file for a machine. Very few understand how thread behaves. And the best digitizers don't just replicate letters, they translate them. They understand density, pull and how stitches layer so they don't look flat.

When it's done right, you can't tell where the hand ends and the machine begins. When it's done wrong.. you absolutely can. We are lucky enough to find someone who treats thread like design, not data. And that changed everything for us.

When we first launched, everything was hand embroidered. And it was beautiful, and extremely expensive. But it wasn't built for longevity at scale. Machine embroidery, when digitized correctly, holds up better over time. It withstands washing. It keeps structure. It maintains the integrity of the letters. And it allows us to use a more premium sweatshirt. That's the difference between something that feels mass produced.. and something that still feels intentional. We didn't change because it was easier. We changed because it was better.

If you look close at our sweatshirts, you'll see:
Tiny variations.
Subtle irregularities.
The occasional thread shift.
A slight imperfect tension.

We love that. It's what keeps it human. You still get the same energy of hand embroidery, the softness, the depth, the character, but with the durability of precision. That balance matters.

A sweatshirt isn't just a sweatshirt when the lettering carries weight. We obsess over the way each word is stitched because words matter. And how they sit on your body matters.

Every drop starts with a thread and intention.

Be serious about quality.
Be unserious about everything else.
